Fix4me ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our Chrome extension and website (collectively, the "Service"). By using Fix4me, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google OAuth. We use this to create and identify your account. We do not receive or store your Google password.
1.2 AI API Keys
If you choose to connect your own AI provider API key (e.g. OpenAI), we store it in encrypted form in our database. Your key is used solely to make AI requests on your behalf. We do not sell, share, or use your API key for any other purpose.
1.3 Usage Data
We track how many AI requests you make (a usage count) to enforce plan limits. We do not log the content of the text you process through the extension.
1.4 Analytics
We use Google Analytics on our website to understand how visitors interact with our pages. Google Analytics may collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent. This data is aggregated and used only to improve the Service. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Fix4me account
- To authenticate you securely via Google OAuth
- To forward AI requests to your chosen AI provider using your API key
- To enforce daily or monthly usage limits based on your plan
- To send transactional emails (e.g. account deletion confirmation)
- To improve and monitor the performance of the Service
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure in the United States. AI API keys are encrypted at rest. We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, JWT-based authentication, and hashed tokens. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we soft-delete your record and purge personally identifiable information within 30 days. Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational purposes.
5. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to operate the Service:
- Google OAuth — for sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI (and future providers) — your text and API key are sent to the AI provider you configure. Their privacy policy applies to that data.
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) — cloud infrastructure for database and hosting.
- Google Analytics — website analytics.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
6. Cookies
Our website may use cookies for session management and analytics (Google Analytics). The extension itself does not use cookies; it stores data locally in chrome.storage.local on your device.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data at any time from the settings page
- Withdraw consent for analytics by using the Google Analytics opt-out tool

8. Children's Privacy
Fix4me is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
